LIVING
This contemporary hideaway is all glass-fronted, inviting the captivating surrounding landscape in, creating a sense of intimacy with nature and freedom to breathe and rejuvenate in the refreshing mountain air.
The cabin is open-plan and fitted with fully stackable doors onto a wrap around wooden deck. The living zone has a small dining room table, a couch and a kitchen nook with a table to prepare meals. The kitchen has a gas hob, full fridge and an oven.
Enclosed by a stone frame, the boma with a firepit is positioned just below the front of the cabin. The boma is also equipped with an outdoor table and camping chairs.
Great care has been taken with the design of the unit to minimize the impact on the environment. The modern cabin is totally off the grid, fed by a natural water source and powered by a battery system and gas.
THE AREA
The cabin is situated on Beumont farm, hidden amid the Steenkampberg mountain range at 7000 feet above sea level, approximately 15 km from Dullstroom in Mpumalanga adjacent Walkersons Private Estate.
Beumont is an extraordinary place where nature and tranquil luxury converge. It's where you truly find rest for your soul, where the clear night sky is filled with a spectacular array of brightly shining stars inviting you to gaze into the galaxies beyond. Appreciate several awe-inspiring moments as you dwell on this glorious mountain far beyond the busyness of life.
The charming Dullstroom village, just 15km away has many quaint country shops to explore, exceptional restaurants, coffee roastery, craft-beer brewery, world renowned whisky bar, locally made cheese deli and chef cooking demonstrations for a truly memorable culinary experience. Walkersons Private Estate offers an exclusive lifestyle experience with 800 hectares of rolling countryside and offers some of the best fly-fishing waters in the region.
GOOD TO KNOW
The cabin is only accessible with a high-clearance 4X4 or a 2x4 with diff-lock or all-wheel drive (similar to a Fortuner), or Helicopter. 4x4 Transfers can be arranged from a designated parking area at set times in line with their check-in and check-out hours. Prior booking is required and an additional fee applies.
Important to note:
• You can safely park your vehicle at the designated meeting point for the duration of your stay.
• This is not a car rental or shuttle service — a driver will collect you and your luggage on check-in day and return you on check-out day.
• If you'd like to leave the farm during your stay, each additional transfer must be pre-booked and paid in advance.
• We recommend planning any off-site activities for before check-in or on your check-out day. A popular option is ending your stay with a spa treatment and lunch at Walkersons Hotel on the neighbouring farm.
This cabin is off-the-grid.
No pets are permitted.
The cabin is fully self-catering. There is no restaurant on-site, and the nearest shops are in Dullstroom (about 35 minutes away). Please bring all your groceries with you — we recommend stocking up before arrival to ensure a relaxed and uninterrupted stay.
Be sure to bring: all food and drinks for your stay, extra wood and firelighters (hot tub uses around 3 bags per heating), charcoal if preferred for the braai, bottled water if you prefer not to drink natural spring water, and warm clothing — Dullstroom weather is cool year-round.
Supplied during your stay: fresh bedding and towels, fully equipped kitchenette (gas hob/oven, fridge-freezer, kettle, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery), braai utensils, outdoor braai area and firepit, basic beverage tray: tea, coffee, sugar sachets, salt, pepper, toilet and kitchen paper, dishwashing liquid and sponge, starter crate of wood — once depleted, please use your own supply, bathroom amenities for in-cabin use only (please don’t remove).
We do not provide helicopter trips or charters. However, this cabin features a private helipad for private or charter flights arranged by guests themselves. Use is at your own risk.
The cabin is best suited for couples, but one additional child may be accommodated on the couch by special request and at your own risk. Safety considerations: open, unfenced wood-fired hot tub in front of the cabin, rocky terrain surrounding the cabin, deck is not enclosed with balustrades. Please supervise children at all times — guests are responsible for any damages or injuries.
We have gas heaters and electric blankets on the beds to keep you cosy during chilly nights.
The cabin is powered by its own solar system and battery, which is more than sufficient for a short stay. The oven, hob, and geyser all run on gas. Important to note: A low-watt hairdryer is provided for your convenience. Please do not use any other hairdryer, styling tools, or high-draw appliances, as these will quickly drain the battery and leave you without power until the system recharges. With mindful use, you’ll have all the power you need.
You can drink the tap water which is sourced from a natural spring on the farm. While many guests enjoy it without issue, please note that the water is not laboratory-tested. If you prefer, we recommend bringing your own bottled drinking water for peace of mind.
Housekeeping is not included but can be pre-arranged on special request at an additional charge, subject to availability.
