Restio Cabin is a newly built mountain retreat on Riemblaar Karoo Reserve in the Western Cape. The cabin is north facing with breathtaking views towards the Anysberg and the Matroosberg, which is often covered in snow during winter months.

Staggering mountain views and an array of rare fynbos surround Restio Cabin. Here, privacy, tranquillity, and wide-open space let you slow down and sink into the rhythm of nature.

LIVING
The cabin’s living space is designed to feel open, easy, and connected to the landscape. Inside, you’ll find two en-suite bedrooms, an outdoor shower, a fully equipped kitchen, and an open-plan lounge, dining, and kitchen area made for slow, comfortable stays.
Large sliding doors disappear into the walls, opening the space onto a north-facing wooden deck, partly covered, with the hot tub set in the open section, perfect for stargazing. On the southern side, another set of sliding doors leads to an enclosed braai area under open skies.
Two large windows on the eastern and western sides frame the surrounding mountains, keeping the views close from morning to evening.
THE AREA
Rugged and untouched surroundings on a private family-owned farm in the Klein Karoo. Home to a number of Grey Rhebok, Eland, Gemsbok, Bontebok, Swart Wildebeest and Springbok herds. Complimented with magnificent mountain views from every angle, a place for stillness.
The area around Nougaspoort Road, Riemblaar Karoo Reserve, is located in the Klein Karoo, a semi-arid region characterised by open plains, rugged mountains and sparse Karoo vegetation. The landscape consists of natural veld, rocky outcrops and wide valleys typical of the interior Western Cape. Nougaspoort Road is a rural access road linking farm properties and private reserves to the R318. The R318 connects the N1 near Touws River with Montagu, passing through mountain passes and agricultural valleys. The road network provides direct access to both the Cape Winelands and the Karoo interior.
Land use in the area is primarily agricultural, including livestock grazing and fruit farming in nearby valleys. Properties are generally large and sparsely distributed, contributing to low population density and minimal light pollution. Montagu serves as the nearest main service town, providing shops, fuel stations, medical facilities and tourism services for the surrounding rural region.
GOOD TO KNOW
The last 6 km to the farm gate is a dirt road, high clearance vehicle is advisable to reach the cabins.
Restio and Tolbos Cabin are 800 m apart ensuring maximum privacy.
Wood and braai equipment is provided for the fireplace and hot tub.
Kitchen basics including olive oil, salt, pepper, tea & coffee are provided.
Plenty of ice on tap, this cabin is equipped with a ice machine.
DStv is available for your viewing pleasure.
One of the bedrooms can be converted into two single beds on request.
Regrettably pets are not welcome.
