The Stone Cabin
The Western Cape’s Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is an area renowned for its exquisite beauty. The Stone Cabin is situated on a 300 hectare working family farm, where relaxed, rustic and cosy self-catering accommodation offers the best of the Overberg hospitality – birdsong, breath-taking views, crackling fires, squishy sofas, trickling streams and starry nights.

THE CABIN
Set at the top end of the Hemel en Aarde Valley, the rustic farmhouse chic Stone Cabin was the first cottage built on the farm. Nestled above the ram paddock and near a small forest, it is private yet spacious enough for two families, a group of friends or a multi-generational family stay. Linen and décor are tasteful and of high quality.

LIVING
The spacious, tastefully furnished living room with comfy sofas and snuggly throws opens onto a fully equipped, open-plan kitchen. This is an ideal space for romantic lantern-lit weekend activities such as cooking, playing board games or enjoying a glass of wine by the oversized fireplace or in the wood-fired hot tub.
The cottage is completely off-grid, lit by solar power and gas fuels the oven, fridge and geyser.
The large spring-fed rock pool with a sundeck and loungers is the perfect spot to relax.
Two outside braai areas are equipped with wood, braai tools and grids – everything you need for a great self-catering weekend!
THE AREA
We invite you to experience rustic comfort in the charming Stone Cabin. Up against the beautiful Klein River mountains, fynbos and pasture lands, Glen Oakes offers the perfect destination for a romantic getaway or fun stays with family & friends. Privacy is assured. Three walking and mountain biking trails on the property.
GOOD TO KNOW
The gravel road is in good condition; the road to the actual farm has a few “water trenches” across the road which may be tricky for low-slung vehicles. Normal sedans can easily make it, just taking it slow.
The access code for the farm will be emailed to you prior to your arrival.
No pets allowed.
There is no electricity, we operate on gas and solar only.
The use of appliances such as hairdryers, coffee machines etc is not possible; a bailetti and a coffee plunger are available.
No salt or petter / olive oil / firelighters - bring your own.
Charging point is available for devices.
Firewood at R40/bag (stocked at the cottage, no need to pre-order; bring your own firelighters).
Ice is available at R20/bag. Please preorder.
The hot tub will be lit prior to arrival.
Bath towels are provided, please bring your own swimming towels.
100% cotton linen and towels are provided.
Children aged between 0 and 2 stay free.
Children aged between 3 and 18 pay 100% of the sharing rate.

If cancelling 7 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total.
If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the deposit.
If cancelling 21 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the deposit.
If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 25% of the deposit.
