Fifty-Five Mjejane

Fifty-Five Mjejane is a private safari lodge offering luxury, five-star accommodation for up to 12 guests in the Mjejane Game Reserve, on the banks of the Crocodile River. The reserve is part of the Greater Kruger and wildlife roams freely between Mjejane and the Kruger Park.

Approximately 4 1/2 hours' drive from Gauteng and a mere 45 minutes from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. The lodge is situated between the Malelane and Crocodile Bridge gates into the Kruger National Park, providing easy access to various nearby attractions.

THE LODGE

Fifty-Five Mjejane is an exclusive-use, self-catering lodge that sleeps up to 12 people in 6 master-style Indlus, a Zulu-inspired beehive-shaped dwelling, and offers everything a guest would need for an exceptionally memorable luxury stay.

SLEEPING

Each Indlu is a unique, comfortable, light and spacious dwelling that opens out onto its own private deck with seating and unobstructed indigenous bush views. The air-conditioned Indlu is furnished with a king-size extra length (or 2 extra length single-size) bed and offers a dressing room and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a bath, as well as an outdoor shower. Luxurious bedding is provided. Each of the Indlu’s offers a work desk, comfortable seating, cafetiere, tea-making facilities and a bar fridge.

LIVING

The Infinity Pool is situated on a lower deck where the view, water, sun, and sun loungers combine to provide an incomparable outdoor experience. It has an eco-friendly gradual entry like a lake or pond, and the infinity edge shows off the Crocodile River and Kruger Park beyond.

The outdoor dining area at the Boma is an excellent evening dining option for enjoying a braai or a pizza from the pizza oven. At the Indlulamithi Bar you can enjoy the sunset and sundowners with stunning views of the Crocodile River and the Kruger National Park beyond, while protected from the heat of the late afternoon. The bar is also equipped for watching televised sporting events. The solar-powered lodge also has an indoor dining area, and a high-end chef’s kitchen with a dishwasher and a pizza oven. 

A fitness centre with breath-taking views, a games room, a media centre, a Satellite TV and uncapped Wi-Fi are available. Fully equipped laundry, housekeeping facilities and covered parking bays are provided.

Two complimentary game drives are included, in the early morning and late afternoon for up to 10 guests; guests need to pack their own snacks and drinks in the picnic baskets and cooler boxes supplied.

THE AREA

Guests have 4000 hectors of concession to explore within Mjejane. 

The Mjejane Private Game Reserve offers a world-class game viewing experience with private access to the Kruger National Park. As there is no fence between Mjejane Private Game Reserve and the Kruger National Park, wildlife moves freely between the nature sanctuaries on either side of the river. Wildlife can be spotted from the lodge as you enjoy your morning coffee or evening sundowner.

With four established picturesque golf courses close by, Fifty-Five Mjejane is a superb wildlife golf destination.

GOOD TO KNOW 

We are a self-catering lodge which means that guests need to provide their own meals. Our staff are however also available and more than happy to assist with setting of tables and lighting of fires if requested. There are grocery stores within 20 km which can deliver groceries directly to the lodge for your convenience.

The lodge is well-stocked with all the basics needed for your dining as as well other requirements. The following are included in your self-catering accommodation:

• Exclusive ranger and game vehicle. 2 game drives a day within the Mjejane Game Reserve, 1 early morning and 1 late afternoon – each game drive will accommodate 10 guests. The ranger will pack picnic baskets / cooler boxes for the game drive at your request.

Access to Mjejane is strictly monitored and limited and a security team as well as a professional anti-poaching unit operates in our area. The staff live on the premises and are available at any time to assist in the event of an emergency. Staff will service the units and lodge and are more than happy to assist with light prepping of meals, setting of tables and lighting of fires if requested. Guests will enjoy the exclusive use of the lodge during their stay, as well as an exclusive ranger and game vehicle.

Please familiarise yourself with the Mjejane Game Reserve’s Rules and Penalty System. Any fines received due to non-adherence to Rules will be for the account of the guest.

BOOKING TERMS 

Payment Policy 
 
1.     50% deposit is required within 48 hours of making the booking.
2.     If the booking is made less than 6 weeks in advance, full payment is required when making the booking.
3.     If the booking is made more than 6 weeks in advance, full payment is required 6 weeks prior to arrival.
4.     Your booking is only confirmed once payment of the full amount payable has been received (including security deposit).
5.     On receipt of your final payment (including security deposit), you will receive an email confirming your booking, dates and number of guests.
 
Security Deposit
 
1.     R10,000.00 is payable before arrival and when the balance is due. Paid by: EFT
2.     In the event of any breakages / damages details will be communicated to you via email within 48 hours of departure. Refunded: Within 7 days after check-out. Paid by: EFT
 
Cancellation Policy
 
1.     Any cancellations must be made via email and confirmed by the lodge.
2.     Cancellation Fees:
2.1  Less than 3 weeks before check-in – 100%
2.2  3 weeks before check-in – 75%
2.3  6 weeks before check-in – 50%
2.4  9 weeks before check-in – 100%
2.5  As a lot of work goes into each booking a 4% admin fee on the total amount quoted for the accommodation will be charged on 100% refunds.
 
Mjejane Game Reserve Gate Levies
 
Please be advised that the Mjejane Game Reserve will charge the following levies on entrance at the Main Gate:
Mjejane Road Levy – R350.00 per motor vehicle.
Mjejane SUIC levy – R60.00 per person per night.
