LIVING 

Milkwood Eco Pod offers a unique eco-luxury escape, thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in nature while providing every modern comfort. The pod features two beautifully appointed bedrooms with extra-length queen-size beds dressed in luxurious Egyptian cotton linen, while electric blankets ensure cosy winter evenings. Stylish bathrooms are stocked with premium amenities, including towels, gowns, slippers, and eco-friendly soap, shampoo, and shower gel.

The fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering effortless, featuring a fridge/freezer combination, 2-plate gas hob, microwave, toaster, air fryer, bean-to-cup coffee machine plus plunger, kettle, mini dishwasher, and washer-dryer combo. Complete with all cookware, crockery, cutlery, and utensils, you'll have everything needed to prepare and enjoy meals throughout your stay.

At the heart of the pod is an exceptional outdoor living space designed for relaxation and connection with the surrounding landscape. Unwind in the suspended wood-fired hot tub, relax on the hammock, or explore the river by double kayak. The expansive deck and entertainment area with sound bar (sound system) include an outdoor braai, Weber, potjie pot, and portable double-braai pizza oven, making it the perfect setting for long afternoons and memorable evenings under the stars.

THE AREA

Situated within the exclusive Renosterveld Project, this protected conservation area spans 350 hectares of pristine wilderness along the majestic Breede River. ⁠In season, you are surrounded by Canola field views with the call of the Fish eagle in the valley or flying overhead.

Located just two-and-a-half hours from Cape Town and 30 km south of Swellendam, the estate offers 2.6 km of river frontage on one of the most peaceful, unspoiled stretches of water in the country. With only 20 private properties in this secluded portion of the protected conservation area – and only three currently developed – guests are guaranteed an unparalleled sense of privacy and a true escape from the modern world. Making use of the access road to the cabin, you may spot some wildlife along the way on the neighbouring property!

GOOD TO KNOW

A long well maintained, single-lane dirt road provides accessibility to the cabin. A SUV or high-clearance vehicle is advised during rainy months, however not essential (just take a slow, easy drive - there is a small part that can get a bit muddy when it rains).

Direct access to 2.6 km of private river frontage on an unspoilt stretch of the Breede.

A small selection of home baked goods is provided as a welcome treat.

10/20L of potable water provided to drink - although the water is from the river and filtered, we would recommend bringing your own additional drinking water if needed.

Wood, firelighters, charcoal, potable water and ice is provided for the first night.

WiFi is available.

A comfortable sleeper couch is available to accommodate an extra child.

The nearest shops are in Swellendam (30 km) or Malgas (15 km) – remember the ferry schedule.

Double kayaks are provided. 

Cellphone reception is limited in the reserve, due to its remote location.

A private beautician is available by prior appointment.
