THE POD

Step through the curved entry and into a space where organic design meets quiet luxury in an open plan layout. With expansive views across pristine fynbos, salt pans and wildlife roaming nearby, each pod creates a seamless, cinematic connection to nature —without sacrificing the warmth and comfort of home. 

SLEEPING

Beds: Open plan pod with 1 Super-King, 2 sleeper couches for kids, separate bathroom with shower, toilet and basin.

LIVING 

Tucked away in the tranquil bushveld and overlooking the shimmering salt pans, the curved Little Acre Safari Pods offer an intimate escape surrounded by nature. Watch wildlife wander past from the comfort of your retreat, or enjoy thoughtfully designed open-plan living with a fully equipped kitchen (with tea and coffee-making facilities, a fridge/freezer, microwave and two-plate gas stove (no oven)), comfortable dining area, and luxurious bathroom. Private outdoor deck with dedicated braai (BBQ) / fire pit area, perfect for fireside evenings and stargazing under West Coast skies.

THE AREA

Just an hour’s drive from Cape Town, Yzerfontein is a salt-scented sanctuary on the West Coast where life naturally slows down. Home to 16 Mile Beach—South Africa’s longest uninterrupted stretch of sand—it’s a haven for ocean lovers, long beach walks, and catching coastal sunsets. Watch local fishermen haul in snoek at the harbour, spot Southern Right whales and dolphins breaching offshore from August to November, or immerse yourself in the rich indigenous history at the nearby !Khwa ttu San Heritage Centre. Between rustic bakeries, local seafood eateries, and pristine nature reserves, Yzerfontein delivers raw West Coast beauty with total, effortless tranquillity.

GOOD TO KNOW

The 3 self-catering pods are easily accessible via main tarred roads leading toward Yzerfontein, with a short drive on gravel within the reserve; the camp is enclosed with a perimeter electrified fence.

Please note that while Wi-Fi is not available, there is good mobile phone reception in the area.

Guided game drives, horseback riding trails, bird viewing, and quiet nature walks can be arranged on the reserve.

Excellent location for viewing plains game and birdlife, with seasonal whale watching along nearby Yzerfontein beaches (August to November).

Wildlife may move close to the accommodation. Keep a respectful distance, do not feed animals and follow all reserve or guide instructions.

  • We had such a great weekend stay here!

    The pod itself was modern, unique design, comfortable and well equipped, while still keeping that nature feel. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and the whole place felt incredibly peaceful and quiet. The highlight for us was easily sitting outside and watching one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen over the salt pan in front of us. Driving through the reserve to get to the accommodation also makes the stay feel a little more special, especially when you happen to spot some animals along the way.

     

    The location is great too. You’re close enough to Yzerfontein town to explore, grab something to eat or find plenty of things to do, while still feeling completely removed from everything when you’re back at the pod. We also did a game drive during our stay with West Coast Safaris, which was a great experience and gave us the chance to see more of the reserve and learn a bit about the area and its history. West Coast National Park is also nearby, and we were lucky enough to visit while the wildflowers were in bloom, which was absolutely stunning. The whole weekend made this part of the West Coast very quickly become one of my favourite places to visit.
