The pod itself was modern, unique design, comfortable and well equipped, while still keeping that nature feel. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and the whole place felt incredibly peaceful and quiet. The highlight for us was easily sitting outside and watching one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen over the salt pan in front of us. Driving through the reserve to get to the accommodation also makes the stay feel a little more special, especially when you happen to spot some animals along the way.

The location is great too. You’re close enough to Yzerfontein town to explore, grab something to eat or find plenty of things to do, while still feeling completely removed from everything when you’re back at the pod. We also did a game drive during our stay with West Coast Safaris, which was a great experience and gave us the chance to see more of the reserve and learn a bit about the area and its history. West Coast National Park is also nearby, and we were lucky enough to visit while the wildflowers were in bloom, which was absolutely stunning. The whole weekend made this part of the West Coast very quickly become one of my favourite places to visit.

It was so peaceful and exactly what we needed to escape when everyday life becomes overwhelming. The views were breathtaking, and we were genuinely sad to leave. If you’re looking for a place to relax, recharge, and enjoy nature, I would highly recommend Sunbird Cottage!

The setting was peaceful and the unit beautifully kept making it the perfect escape for us from the busy city. The perfect balance between comfort and charm. We'd definitely like to return some day!

We had a wonderful stay over the long weekend at Salt Cottage. The farm honey and eggs was a special touch and the place had all the amenities one would need. Our little dog enjoyed the fauna and views as much as we did.

Nestled among the trees in a wonderfully secluded setting, it truly feels like a jungle escape. The blend of sleek, modern interiors with thoughtful personal touches—like homemade rusks, fresh farm produce, and even a pizza oven—creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Add to that the hot tub, outdoor showers, and the abundance of wildlife roaming the farm, and you’re completely immersed in nature.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this haven to anyone looking to truly switch off, unwind, and reconnect with the natural world.

• Boomhuis Hideaway

We had an amazing stay! The cottage was so so neat and they thought of everything- really had a comfortable stay! Our pets also loved it and the enclosed area makes it stress free for us humans!
I would recommend this cottage to anyone- and we will definitely go back.

From the moment we arrived, the sweeping views set the tone—vast, serene, and endlessly beautiful. The atmosphere was warm and romantic, with every detail thoughtfully considered, from the cozy interiors to the way the space seemed designed for lingering conversations and quiet moments together.

The braai setup deserves special mention: not only was the equipment top notch, but it invited us to slow down and savor the experience of cooking outdoors, adding to the sense of connection and celebration. Our hosts were wonderfully welcoming, striking that perfect balance of friendliness and attentiveness without ever being intrusive. The thoughtful gift of chocolates and a bottle of wine was the sweetest touch, making us feel truly cared for.

We had an amazing time at Little Acre Pods, it was the perfect spot for a local babymoon getaway. The views, set on a beautiful wine farm, were absolutely breathtaking & our picnic at Dome Divine was incredibly romantic. Evenings were spent with the braai going, soaking in the hot tub with a glass of wine, watching the sky change as the sun went down. We would definitely come back!

Babymoon of dreams! We slept in, chilled, read our books, birding, canoed, swam in the river, soaked in the hot tub and star gazed on the cargo net.
